The Summer can now begin

We went to the outlets last weekend. My previous experience has taught me that there is no better time to shop there than on a Holiday weekend. While everyone was out at the Hamptons, etc. we were scooping up all the bargains the outlets had to offer.

I have come to realize that the older I get, the more frivolous my purchases become. I actually went to the outlets for the sole purpose of buying a "Summer" Coach pocketbook! When the hell did I get so "label" conscious??? I had a hard time deciding which to buy - the smaller bag to use on weekends, or the large one that I would use on workdays. Thank goodness Mr. Wonderful was there to help me decide. He decided that the 40% discount (OFF the reduced ticketed price) was reason enough to buy both if them! You gotta love the way that guy thinks!

I wonder where we can shop this weekend??

The Girl's Weekend

We have booked our annual Labor Day Weekend Trek to Key West. There are 9 of us "definite" - and 1 "maybe". We have rented 2 cottages, side by side. I have a feeling this is going to be the best year ever!

I think it should be mandatory that women get away once a year - ONLY WITH OTHER WOMEN! No stress, no worries...

I, for one, am only packing PJ's and bathing suits!

The Bride is Broken

Got a call from Michelle yesterday afternoon. I knew from her tone that the news was not good. She tripped UP the stairs (she is definitely my kid) while doing laundry and she was in the Emergency Room. She broke her arm in 2 places. She will be in a cast for 6-8 weeks - DID I MENTION SHE IS A HAIRDRESSER????

We have certainly had our share of medical mishaps this year. I am hoping we are done for a while.

Vet, part 2A

We decided to wait before beginning the rabies series. Animal Control has picked up the "biter" and will advise if he shows any signs of rabies. Mr. Wonderful got his tetanus shot and a prescription of antibiotics. I hope his shenanigans is over - ALLISON ARRIVES TODAY and it is her turn in the spotlight!

A Vet, He's Not, part 2

Mr. Wonderful is a kind soul who is a lover of all animals. He feeds the birds, the squirrels and any stray cat that happens to visit our yard (along with the raccoons and possums!). After being berated by our beloved neighbors (and me) he has finally taken the steps necessary to neuter the aforementioned cats.

One cat was successfully caught and neutered last week. Easy. Yesterday he caught 2 more and took them to the vet this morning. He set the trap again today in the hopes of catching 2 more for tomorrow. He caught one, who was not too happy. She proceeded to put a bite on Mr. Wonderful's hand! His first thought was to take the cat to the vet to see if it had rabies - I INSTRUCTED him to call our doctor immediately.

Per the doctor's orders, he is now on his way to the emergency room...

Did I mention our daughter is getting married on Sunday?????

Tradition

Michelle's wedding is next Sunday. I am so grateful that my sweet daughter has kept me in the dark about all the "bumps" in the road that she encountered while planning this event. She has only shared with me the GOOD things.

I have her dress hanging in my house - the something "new". I am lending her the bracelet her father bought me this past Christmas - the something "borrowed". All that was left was the "old" and the "blue". Being the crafty genius that I am, I came up with the perfect solution. I took out my wedding gown which has been carefully preserved all these years (HA HA!) - unzipped the garment bag and cut off a piece of the dress. I wrote just a couple words to Michelle on it and signed my name. Out came the trusty sewing kit and there I was embroidering all the script with light blue thread. Today, I will sew this to the inside lining of her wedding dress - the something "old" and the something "blue". - I think I may have come up with a new family tradition.....
