I also love the thought of the serenity that comes when Mr. Wonderful and I retreat to our bedroom knowing all my kids are safe and sound.
Once you become a mother, you never stop being a mother. No matter how old the kids, they are still your kids. The worry doesn't stop when they move out. You will still celebrate their victories and feel the pain of their hurts. That "serenity" is never truly there - it is a myth that is passed on from generation to generation. The truth is, motherhood is a lifelong commitment. It is not for sissies.
